Alex Enriquez

Professor Alex Enriquez is a Filipino-American Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, accomplished grappler, and international competitor who represents the Philippines on the national team. Born in Manila and raised in Georgia after moving to the United States as a child, Alex began training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu at age 11. Her passion for grappling eventually led her to compete in both jiu-jitsu and wrestling, including wrestling at the high school and collegiate levels. She graduated from Life University (Marietta, GA) in 2021 with a degree in exercise science and earned her jiu-jitsu black belt under Bruno Frazatto later that year. Alex has built an impressive competitive résumé, earning major titles on the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) circuit and establishing herself as a competitor on the international stage. In April 2026, she won gold in the women's 63-kilogram jiu-jitsu division at the Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China, delivering the Philippines its first gold medal of the Games. Most recently, she captured silver in the women’s 63-kilogram jiu-jitsu division at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, falling just short of gold against Thailand in a closely contested final. Her performance added to the Philippines’ medal tally and highlighted her ability to compete among Asia’s top grapplers. Beyond medals and competition, Alex sees jiu-jitsu as a lifelong practice in discipline, resilience, humility, and self-discovery. Beyond jiu-jitsu, she loves exploring good food and has even considered creating a food-and-jiu-jitsu social media page. She hopes to one day open her own academy, continue teaching, and build a family homestead where they can grow their own food.
